Jane and John’s Engagement photography

I’m really pleased to be able to share Jane and John’s engagement photography from a few days ago.  An engagement session is a great way of producing creative, fun images. More importantly, it is a perfect opportunity for the couple to spend some time with me, so that everybody gets to know each other before the big day.  Jane and John are planning a Liverpool wedding, so decided upon Sefton Park as an ideal location for this portrait session.

It was a calm evening but as the sun started to go down I made sure I had some lights with me, as with full leaf cover on the trees it was a tad dark in places. We went to the delightful ‘fairy glen’, which in Victorian times was always a popular meeting point for courting couples and then to a lovely area of tall pine trees near the Palm House.

Engagement photography Merseyside

First off, it’s congratulations on your engagement. And more importantly, where was the question popped, what is the ring like? I need to know !!!!

In all the excitement of planning a wedding, don’t forget about the idea of having some professional engagement photos taken early on.

While many wedding photography packages come with a engagement shoot, myself included. It is a perfect opportunity for the couple to spend some time with me, so that everybody gets to know each other before the big day. It really does relax the nerves. Also it can often act as a run through, or a try out of different styles – perhaps hair or make-up – anything that you’ve been wondering how it will work. And of course, the shoot gives everyone a bit of time to think about the photography before the big day.

As a photographer I enjoy the freedom they bring. We have more time than at most weddings and can try out different styles and poses. And of course no beautiful white dress to worry about. We can prepare for the ‘getting ready’ shots and some couples use the final images as a basis for a big print that they have at the wedding for guests to sign. Which is always a nice touch.

Finally, engagement shoots are always fun. We can have a laugh and hopefully get over any ‘I hate my photo being taken’ concerns. For most couples is their first professional shoot together and my goal is always to give you the confidence that everything will be fine and smooth with the photography on your big day. I’m happy to take your lead on a location – a place that means something special to you guys as a couple, be it where you met, a memorable time in your lives or perhaps centred around an activity that you both love. At the end of the day anything goes and hopefully, the engagement shoot, is just the start of your journey towards the happiest day of your life !

Engagement photography with Gerrad and Paulette

I travelled down the M62 to meet Gerrard and Paulette at their wedding venue and after a little chat and get to know each other, we did a quick engagement photography shoot. The weather held out for us and quickly they relaxed, enabling me to make some wonderful couple portraits. They are getting married at the rather splendid Gomersal Park Hotel, near Bradford. So it made sense to meet there and use the fantastic grounds for our photo shoot.

So really looking forward to their big day now – only a couple of weeks to go.

I offer pre-wedding photo shoots / couple’s engagement portraits as a standalone package as well as an optional extra to your bespoke wedding photography. I really enjoy engagement shoots, and the freedom they bring. We aren’t tied down to a specific date, so if the weather changes for the worst we can always re-schedule. No beautiful white dress to stand on and ruin. Plus we have much more time than at most weddings to relax and get perfect shots ! So please get in touch to book a session !
