Cornerstone wedding photography at Hope University
- By David

It was absolutely lovely to be Jane and John’s wedding photographer. I did a little engagement shoot with them, so we had had a chance to get to know each other and they seemed a very relaxed and organised couple, deeply in love. So it was brilliant for their special day to arrive.
They got married at St Thomas More Church in Aigburth, literally minutes from their home, so it was a familiar place for them and their families. We had good weather and everything went to plan with a lovely ceremony and mass. Later the party continued at a Hope University venue, The Cornerstone, at their Creative Campus. It is one of the best wedding venues in the city and recommended by me, as it has a beautiful great hall and spelendid gardens and just that little bit off the beaten track, while remaining firmly in Liverpool’s city centre.
The Cornerstone is a listed building, and you can tell that when you enter the Great Hall. It has an amazing double height ceiling and loads of windows, which give it an airy, light feel with loads of natural light for photographs. The hall has a great wooden floor, so super for dancing and just outside is a large balcony and bar, overlooking the venue’s entrance. And of course we made use of the gardens, in between rain showers. The planting varies from formal landscaping to wild flower meadows, so is absolutely perfect for those moments to escape the crowds for a few minutes and secure some intimate couple portraits.
Many congratulations to Jane and John, below are some of my favourite images from a wonderful day.

City centre wedding in Liverpool
- By David

Another sunny day and another fabulous city centre wedding in Liverpool at St George’s Hall. I never tire of working at one of the city’s most prominent and iconic buildings. It is set up for the biggest of weddings in the Concert Hall, through to more intimate family affairs in the rooms upstairs. Everywhere is steeped in history and it really is a special place for special occasions. And of course, there are tons of photo opportunities and brilliant locations, both inside and outside.
So I was delighted when Karim and Rasa asked me to be their wedding photographer there for their civil ceremony.

Jane and John’s Engagement photography
- By David

I’m really pleased to be able to share Jane and John’s engagement photography from a few days ago. An engagement session is a great way of producing creative, fun images. More importantly, it is a perfect opportunity for the couple to spend some time with me, so that everybody gets to know each other before the big day. Jane and John are planning a Liverpool wedding, so decided upon Sefton Park as an ideal location for this portrait session.
It was a calm evening but as the sun started to go down I made sure I had some lights with me, as with full leaf cover on the trees it was a tad dark in places. We went to the delightful ‘fairy glen’, which in Victorian times was always a popular meeting point for courting couples and then to a lovely area of tall pine trees near the Palm House.
Hope you enjoyed a little sneak peek at the engagement photography, I had loads of fun with this lovely couple and am really looking forward to their big day.

Christening photographer

Each and every christening, baptism and naming ceremony is unique. And this Liverpool christening with Poppy and William was no different – indeed it felt like I was with back with old friends, as I’d shot their parents wedding a few years ago. So after a brief catch up, I began by capturing portraits of the children and some adult group shots before went into the church. Experience tells me that children sometimes get tired by the ceremony and getting the formal photographs first often produces the best results. Of course I was there when everyone went inside, discreetly shooting from one side, so as not to distrub the ceremony. And finally on to the family gathering in a hall nearby – fun, games and food !
So a few of my favourite images from the day below !
So if you are planning a Christening, please give me a call and I can pop around for a chat !

A summer wedding in Somerset for Rahul and Abigail
Many of my wedding clients arrive via refferals from previous happy couples. With Rahul and Abigail things were a little different. They met at the Big Chill music festival and posted a little request for pointers to Somerset wedding photography on the event’s busy discussion boards. I worked as a music photographer at the festivalover 5 years and while not based in the county, someone passed on their message to me. We met at their home in Manchester and when I heard their plans I knew it was going to be brilliant.
Things began early for Rahul’s preparations and then it was on to Abigail’s parents home for a traditional ceremony.
Then it was off to the North Curry Church for the second ceremony of the day!
Followed by a garden party back at Abigail’s Mum and Dad’s home; the garden was stunning and brimming with flowers.
It was an amazing day’s work. I LOVE my job so much. Congratulations to Rahul and Abigail !

Civil ceremony
- By David
Briefly mentioned the civil ceremony at St Georges Hall last week. I was the photographer for Charlotte and Jonathan’s wedding and it was absolutely lovely and an honour to help them out. Loads of friends and family travelled to be a part of their big day and fortunately the weather was absolutely splendid. The ceremony was in the rather plush Sefton Room and we made great use of the steps for group shots and then went into the gardens for some more private moments.
